Descendants of James McGinnis

James McGinnis, born 1864-66 in Fulton/Dekalb County, GA married Elizabeth Samples (I don't know when). They had 6 children, Carl Claude (1890), Alveron (1891), George (1903), Ed, Valerie and Leve. Elizabeth apperently died in the 1920's after a trip to Alabama and James died in the 1930's. James' parents were Tom and Martha McGinnis.

Tom McGinnis, born 1838 in GA married to Martha (Nichols?). Had 2 children in the 1870 DeKalb Co, GA census, James (1864-66) and Willie (1860). Family stories indicate both Tom and Martha died in the 1870's and the children were raised by a family in Forsyth Co, GA (Westerbrooke?). Tom's parents were William and Charlotte McGinnis.

William McGinnis, born 1796-1800 in NC married Charlotte Cobb in Lincoln Co, NC in 1816. According to the 1850 DeKalb Co, GA census, they had 4 children Mary A (1831), Robert (1837), Thomas (1838) and George (1842). Some fellow researchers have indicated that Charlotte was William's first wife and he later married Catherine Carpenter in 1824 in NC. I don't know if this is accurate as the 1850 GA census shows William and Charlotte living together
